Refurbit Takes a Giant Leap Towards Sustainability with 40kW Solar System Installation!
We are thrilled to announce that Refurbit has taken another step forward in our commitment to environmental preservation by installing a state-of-the-art 40kW solar system at our 6,000 sqft warehouse in Hull. This project was made possible through a generous grant from Hull City Council via the Hull Business Energy Efficiency Scheme (HBEES) and our partnership with Beech Electrical. Aligning perfectly with our mission to protect the environment and promote the re-use and recycling of WEEE (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment), this marks a significant milestone in our sustainability journey.
A Sustainable Future
Our solar installation consists of 100 panels that will generate clean energy for decades to come. Over a 25-year period, we anticipate generating approximately 604,391 kWh of electricity, with 574,172 kWh consumed on-site and 30,220 kWh exported back to the grid. The project has a 7-year payback period, making it a sound environmental and economic investment.
By harnessing the power of renewable energy, Refurbit aims to:
- Generate clean energy to power our operations.
- Reduce our reliance on non-renewable energy sources.
- Lower our electricity costs, allowing us to reinvest in community-focused initiatives.
Collaboration with Hull City Council
We extend our deepest gratitude to Hull City Council for supporting this project through their environmental grant scheme. Their vision for a greener Hull and unwavering support for local businesses like ours has been instrumental in making this project a reality.
Partnering with Beech Electrical
We also want to thank Beech Electrical for guiding us through the build phase. Their expertise and dedication ensured the success of this ambitious project.
Environmental Impact
The 40kW solar system is expected to generate approximately 25,722 kWh of electricity annually, translating to a reduction of over 9,042 metric tons of CO2 emissions each year. This aligns with our objectives to:
- Protect and preserve the environment.
- Promote education and awareness about renewable energy and sustainability.
Benefits for the Community
This solar installation is not just about powering our warehouse. It represents a broader commitment to our community by:
- Supporting Local Initiatives: The cost savings will help us offer more discounts, donations, and workshops for schools, charities, and individuals in need.
- Inspiring Change: We hope to serve as a model for other organizations to adopt sustainable practices.
- Educational Opportunities: We plan to use this system as an educational tool in our workshops, demonstrating the benefits of renewable energy to the community.
- Exporting Power: We hope that any power exported to the local community will help reduce electricity prices for the average homeowner.
Looking Ahead
This solar system installation is just the beginning. As Refurbit grows, we will continue to explore innovative ways to integrate sustainability into every aspect of our operations. We believe that small steps taken today will lead to significant changes for future generations.
We’re incredibly proud of this achievement and grateful for the support of Hull City Council, Beech Electrical, our team, and the local community. Together, we are making a difference—one solar panel at a time!
Stay tuned for more updates as we continue our journey toward sustainability.
