We’re proud to announce the opening of the N.E.R.D. Room — our Neurodiverse, Experimental, Research and Development Lab — a purpose-built digital space at Northcotts designed to support learning, creativity, and inclusive access to technology.

What’s Inside?

The N.E.R.D. Room features:

  • 13 refurbished desktop computers – Reliable and high-performing systems ready for everything from creative projects to job searches.

  • 12 monitors – Clear and accessible for users of all ages and abilities.

  • 1 interactive touchscreen TV – Perfect for group sessions, workshops, and accessible learning.

This space was created to be flexible, inclusive, and inspiring — particularly for neurodiverse individuals who may thrive in an environment tailored for exploration, hands-on learning, and creativity.

Why the N.E.R.D. Room Matters

The goal of the N.E.R.D. Room is to provide a safe, accessible, and empowering digital space where users can build skills, express themselves, and engage in meaningful learning. It’s not just a room full of tech — it’s a launchpad for potential.

Refurbishment Meets Inclusion

All equipment has been professionally refurbished, promoting sustainability by reducing e-waste and giving technology a second life. This ties in with our broader mission: supporting both the environment and the community.

We’re excited to see the N.E.R.D. Room grow into a hub of innovation, learning, and connection at Northcotts.
