We were thrilled to join Westhull Community Centre’s Family Fun Day.
As the Centre welcomed back their “good friend Mark Kelly” for an afternoon sing-along, we set up our pop-up tech stall with nostalgic tech, and a mission: to show how old tech can spark joy. Kids tested retro phones and saw the gold that was in the old computers, parents asked about remminising about the old Blackberry Bold and Mark Kelly’s tunes mingled.
Why this matters to us:
Every device we refurbish avoids landfill. Every person who learns to use tech (whether for school, staying connected, or just playing Minecraft) gets one step closer to digital inclusion. At Westhull, we saw this in action: a grandparent sharing stories over coffee and cake while a teen helped them navigate email, all while Mark’s sing-along filled the room with laughter.
A huge thank you to:
The Westhull Community Centre team for hosting us with such warmth
Mark Kelly for bringing the music
Every family who asked a questions or just share a smile
This is what Refurbit is all about: tech that connects, not just repairs.
We can’t wait to come back to Westhull and to keep rescuing tech from landfill, one community moment at a time.
